Audience Engagement Journalist
I’m Abi Siatkowski, an early-career journalist specializing in audience engagement. I currently work as the digital producer at KOSU, Oklahoma City’s largest NPR member station. There, I strategize ways to make sure KOSU’s content reaches viewers on all digital platforms.
My passion lies at the intersection of news and community — and I see audience engagement as the bridge between the two. When journalists are committed to ensuring news meets audiences where they’re at, we also gain insight on how to better serve those communities’ needs.
Previously, I have reported for Los Angeles magazine and the Los Angeles Times, covering the music industry, the environment and events in Los Angeles.
While a student at UCLA, I worked for the student newspaper, the Daily Bruin, as the editor of its quarterly magazine, and later its managing editor. I received first place at the 2024 California College Media Association Excellence in Student Media Awards in the Best Print Magazine category. I also led the paper through its coverage of the campus encampments in spring 2024, for which we won Best College Media Group of the Year from the College Media Association in 2024.
Outside of journalism, I have worked in web design and content editing for Heidi Duckler Dance and the UCLA Library.
I was born and raised in Oklahoma City. In my spare time, I enjoy figure skating (participating, watching and judging!) and reading.
